Coaching

Akilah’s (my) offering to work and play with you while you migrate away from a school-centric lifestyle and empower your family to recover from years of miseducation. Whether you’re a homeschooling parent, or your child is in conventional school, or your family is school-free, my intention is to support your transition away from fear and towards a confident, more self-directed and personalized learning experience.

In more detail...

Are you looking to step away from the conventional school system mindset and take a more confident, self-directed approach to life and learning?

Maybe you’re already homeschooling, but you want to make it less like school and more personalized, more trustful of natural learning.

Or perhaps you’re a parent of a child in (any type of) school, but you want to be less of an agent of the school system, and more of a partner to your child while they’re in that system.

Whatever your situation is, I’m here to help!

I offer coaching in support of your transition (away from a school-centric life) toward your ideal lifestyle design.

As a caretaker, it can be challenging to navigate the education system and advocate for your child’s needs while also managing your own deschooling goals and aspirations. That’s where I come in. With Savorade Coaching you’ll have a partner to guide you through the process of stepping away defaulting to schoolishness and into living a more fulfilling daily experience.

As a longtime unschooler with a child who is now in conventional school, and as a current student myself (a seminarian), I understand firsthand the complexities of this journey. As such, I offer a unique perspective and a specific-to-you coaching path that is informed by real-life experiences, not just things I’ve read or seen and been inspired by along the way.

Together, we’ll walk your grounds and develop a route that is customized to your unique situation, taking into account your personality, your child’s interests and assertions, and your shared goals.

I offer coaching to help you transition away from a school-centric life. As a parent myself, I understand the challenges of discovering your child’s authentic learning skills and needs while also pursuing your own goals and un/learning the schoolish-foolish habits that are normal and even celebrated in our cultures and in our own minds.

That’s why my coaching is tailored to your unique situation and takes into account your personal interests, lifestyle, and aspirations.

By partnering with me, you’ll have access to a wealth of knowledge and resources that can help you navigate this transition with trust, and eventually, confidence.

From identifying more well-aligned options to developing your personalized leadership plan, I’ll be there every step of the way to support you as you learn how best to support your child and yourself.

So if you’re ready to walk more boldly toward your own deschooling and break free from the limitations of a school-centric lifestyle, let’s work together to see it through.

What’s “Savorade” though?

The art of savoring is about addressing a present need or an in-recent-moments-passed need.
Savoring is a temporary state, so we do not stay in savor mode. Think of it like getting a cast put on because something’s broken and you need it to mend. While it’s on the mend, you’re gonna need to keep this cast on, and at some point you take it off, and then you can start moving that part at a pace that makes sense for you from wherever your healing got you. Savoring results in new language and skills that will help you normalize the life you’re moving towards.

The ade suffix is from an acronym

a – acknowledge harm in its various forms
d – detangle and deschool from the old stories
e – establish important new connections
